My dad who was born in 1910 and died right before he hit 90 read this book over and over again. He read as if it was his bible. He used a ballpoint pen to highlight the advice he liked the most. I am not sure how many copies he had but the book was always tattered. He was the first person to teach me the importance of positive thinking and the importance of leading by example. My dad had lots of friends I never heard him tell anyone they had it all wrong.

This book should be required reading for every young person before they enter the real world. I'm reminded of the Warren Buffett line, "Criticize generally, praise specifically."

It's so easy to get sucked into what's new but a book with timeless lessons has already proven to be so valuable. All the best to you Hannah!

I'm in a place with background music. It's a bit loud. I'm not able to hear any background music on your recording. I'll try again at another location.

You seem more comfortable with the recording as it goes further. Your voice is pleasant. Your elocution is excellent.

One idea that a friend attributed to this book was to make a friend by letting them do something for you. Doing them a favour may make them feel obligated to you and that may bring up a sort of resentment. Having them agree to do something for you builds a stronger bond because they feel you must be a friend or they wouldn't have acted on your behalf.

There were zero errors in the recording. Spooky. Music was audible at the very end.

We are our own worst critics! Maybe if I listened a dozen times I might pick up on a small error or two, but on my first go it sounded very professional. The music was at a good volume, too.

I’d like to hear your take on Machiavelli’s “The Prince.” I think it’s a much-misunderstood text.

Hi Hannah, great summary of Dale’s book and I enjoyed listening to your recording: you sound like a German or possibly a Russian with excellent American-accented English.

Definitely one of my all time favorite books. I prefer the original 1936 version, because the examples resonated with me in such a way that the new version with all that social media reference never will. From the age of 12 I started to implement these techniques, which changed my life. The total antagonist to this book would be "48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene. Law 2: Never Put Too Much Trust in Friends. Sadly there's some truth behind it. The last 3 years have shown who really a friend is, and who is just sleepwalking through life like 80% of the population.

Thank you for the article. Personally I'm not a fan of the style in insight 6, known in the UK as a s**t sandwich. When giving criticism I prefer the STAR model with a pinpointed observation, you then open it up to a discussion over how to improve next time.

This is the first time that I've read "The Collection", Hannah. I've been meaning to read this book for about 30 years now! A synopsis of it was immediately helpful to me. I love the Plutarch quote, "We have two ears but only one mouth" so we should listen twice as much as we speak. If I take only that away from your post, it is enough. That's golden! I thought your reading of the post was lovely. Yours is a voice with a pleasant sound to it. The music was perfect. Thank you for inspiring me to finally read Dale Carnegie's book.

Hannah would you care if I linked your piece to my Sales Director? She has about 10 of us under her. She’s wanting people videos for our team call on Friday. Was going to ask for forgiveness but with you thought better to ask for permission lol. I would just copy the text and give you credit. Not sure I want them knowing too much about me haha….thanks regardless ☺️

All good advice from what sounds like a good book. My husband once said: people want to be around others that make them feel good. That is very true, if someone is constantly trying to find flaws with you or always correcting you, it’s not a fun person to be around. But if someone lifts you up even just a little with a small compliment or a kind word, you want more.. sadly in this crazy world there is not enough kindness for each other, and that’s just what I gov’t wants it seems (divide and conquer). Let’s not give them that…

I read Carnegie's book as a young man. I see I missed one of his lessons about disagreement. It explains those pregnant silences I get from friends now and then. I can fix that now thanks to you!

Your audio delivery was wonderful. Perhaps an extra heartbeat pause between sentences might help a listeners digestion. I mean, those silences from my friends haven't been lost on me... again, thanks to you! Funny how our lessons come back to teach us again.

Great work! I'm encouraged to do the same with one of Lysander Spooner's essay's. Thank you Hannah! Fuzz

IDK if you've read this one, but your audience may enjoy the lessons you'd distill from it
