8 conclusions from the book «Rework: Business without prejudices»
Nowadays, everyone can create a business!
And this is true, because now there are many more tools and opportunities than before, and the book "Rework: Business without prejudices" confirms this.
Its authors, Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson, are successful entrepreneurs (of 37signals, Basecamp) who share their own experience of building a successful business. And so that you do not spend a lot of time reading the whole book, I made a summary of it and collected 8 main conclusions. They will teach you to ask yourself the right questions, tell you how to start a business, and how to manage it.
Enjoy reading!
1. An idea will remain an idea until you start acting.
"Eh, I once had an idea to make my own Amazon, I could've been a billionaire by now!". Have you ever heard something similar? Sounds stupid, right? What matters is not what you think, but what you do. You don't even have to quit your day job to do it. You can start a project or learn useful skills in the evenings.
"I don't have any time" is just an excuse. You'll find yourself with more time if you do not spend it on TV shows and picking your nose. Remember: There will never be a perfect moment to start. Start acting now!
2. Create a half-product, not a half-finished product. It's better to have a cool half than a stupid whole.
When creating something, it is important to focus on the most important thing and then refine the rest.
For example, when opening a pizzeria, you'll at some point have to worry about the name, beautiful packaging, and designer interior. But first of all, prioritize thinking about the ingredients, taste, and quality of the pizza. Pizza is the basis, which is mandatory; everything else is secondary.
To understand what is the most important thing in your business, ask yourself, "If I remove this, will everything else make sense?". Try it!
